Hello my name is Gina, and I would like to share with you this blog about our art group trip to the museum of the Art Institute of Chicago. This has been such a great experience for me. I could see many artistic works, but the one that impressed me the most was that I could see with my own eyes the original works of Claude Monet. I will share through this blog some of the most important work of Monet with you and people around the world.
But before, let me explain a little about who was Claude Monet.
Claude Monet was born in Paris, but grew up in Le Havre. His first artistic output were caricatures when he was a little boy. Close to his home was a little shop owned by a marine painter, Mr. Eugene Boudin. He recognized the talent of the boy and gave him his first painting lessons.
Claude's family was not very happy about his vocation for painting. In 1860 he was drafted and had to go to Northern Africa for two years. After his return from Africa he went to Paris and took painting lessons at Gleyre's studio in Paris. At the studio he got to know Auguste Renoir, Sisley, Bazille and others. The nucleus of the future Impressionist movement was born.

While I was in the Art museum I could see some of his work. I will divide his paintings in two parts:
Caricature and Oil on Canvas
Caricatures
This is title Caricature of a Man, was drawn between 1855-1856
This caricature is titled: "Auguste Vacquerie" drawn in 1854
This is "Caricature of a Man with a Large Nose, drawn between 1855-1856
Oil on Canvas
This painting is precious. It's titled "Apples and Grapes" painted in 1880
This one reminds me the beach. It's titled "The Beach and the Falaise d'Amont, painted in 1885
This is the the Japanese foot bridge that Monet painted in 1900 from his own garden of Giverny. It's titled "Water Lily Pond"
I hope someday to be a great painter like Monet and show the world my work.
